Christopher Russell Edward Squire is an English musician, singer and songwriter best known for his role as bassist, backing vocalist and founding member of the progressive rock band Yes. He was the oldest original member, remained in the band until his death, and appeared on all studio albums released between 1969 and 2014. In 2017 he was included in Rock Fame of the Hall and Roll in as a member of Yes. Squire is widely regarded as the dominant bassist among progressive rock bands in the UK, influencing his colleagues and subsequent generations of bassists with his sharp sound and melodic lines, his meticulous lines. His name is associated with his signature instrument, the Rickenbacker 4001. From 1991 to 2000, Rickenbacker produced a limited edition signature bass model bearing his name, 4001CS.
